The 2015 Acura NSX Concept will be on display at the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 18.
Acura is the official sponsor for the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours, and has been eager to show off progress on the soon-to-be revived NSX. The NSX Concept will be shown on the Concept Lawn.
This isn't the first time that the new NSX Concept has been shown. On August 4, just before the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, Acura had a demonstration of their NSX prototype on track. The prototype had a distinct blue livery, which Acura says shows their intentions to race the new NSX. The concept shown at Pebble Beach will be similar to the one driven around Mid-Ohio.
The new NSX, set to go on sale in 2015, is Acura's latest achievement in sports car technology. It will have a mid mounted V6 and a unique triple electric motor hybrid setup. One electric motor will be used near the gasoline motor to power the rear wheels (through a new double clutch transmission), while the other two will run power to the front wheels, effectively creating an all-wheel drive hybrid. The NSX will have what Acura is calling Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), using positive and negative torque vectoring on the front axle to provide more dynamic handling characteristics.
“The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is more than one of the world's preeminent exhibitions of luxury automobiles, it is a celebration of style and refinement that is the perfect showcase for the NSX Concept,” said Michael Accavitti, senior vice president of Automobile Operations at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “We are thrilled to align the Acura brand with this prstigious event that is the ultimate celebration of the automobile.”
Pebble Beach is one of the most prestigious events of the year, drawing international crowds to the Monterey coast.
